Not everyone thinks of North Muskoka as a place to go to have a great dining experience. World-class fishing makes sense; snowmobiling, hiking and water-skiing for sure, but dining? Cottage country is definitely a place to appreciate outdoor living, but there are still some pretty impressive dining experiences to be had in Huntsville and the surrounding towns. Here are four Huntsville restaurants you might want to try the next time you’re at the cottage.
3 Guys and a Stove
3 Guys and a Stove is a casual, fine dining place on Highway 60 in Huntsville. This restaurant features a lot of comfort foods from different cultures, prepared with all the right seasonings and the freshest ingredients. There are some favourites that are mainstays on the menu, but experimentation is a big thing at 3 Guys and a Stove, so there are always surprises when you’re ready to take a break from the great outdoors. You can find sandwiches, wraps, burgers, fresh fish, red meat, vegetarian classics, and even hearty casseroles and stews in the winter and a weekend marche breakfast.
Blackburn’s is on 7 John Street in Huntsville, and it is a classic steakhouse that’s been open since 2008. No doubt, there is an awful lot of steak grilling going on in and around Huntsville during cottage season, but Blackburn’s Steakhouse takes it to a whole different level. The menu includes ribeyes, filet mignon, New York striploin and a blackened Cajun sirloin, among others. There is also a grain-fed pork chop, jerk chicken, grilled Ontario trout and ½ rack of lamb. If you have guests or are really craving a great steak, this is the place to try.
Bo’s Authentic Thai Cuisine
Real, genuine Thai food is hard enough to come by in the city, so the fact that there is an authentic Thai restaurant right in Huntsville is pretty exciting. Bo’s Authentic Thai Cuisine is located at 79 Main Street East, and run by Amornthip Ratanadawong, also known as ‘Bo.’ She created all the dishes on the menu, and has created a really comfortable space for people to enjoy Thai food or try it for the first time. The menu includes Thai versions of shrimp rolls, spring rolls, noodles, fried rice, chicken, pork, beef, seafood, rice and more.
Crabby Joe’s Tap & Grill
We may as well include one chain restaurant in the group, so Crabby Joe’s Tap & Grill is a good one. This one is Canadian-owned and has been around, growing in numbers since 1996. The Huntsville location is on 68 King William Street, and the menu includes all the standard appetizers, lunches, mains and desserts that you’d find at any Crabby Joe’s. Sandwiches, burgers, wraps, pastas, salads, tacos, seafood, steaks, wings and desserts are all part of the regular menu.
